Security

The latest generation of PowerEdge servers offers various security features designed to safeguard your data center infrastructure. These features ensure the protection of both physical and digital assets. Below are the key security features:

• Cover Latch

  • A tooled latch is integrated into the top cover, securing it to the rack chassis. This feature prevents unauthorized access to internal components.

• Bezel

  • A standard metal bezel is an optional addition to the chassis front, displaying the Dell ID. Furthermore, a lock on the bezel protects hard drives from unauthorized access.

  • NFC Bezel: Additionally, an NFC-enabled bezel supports iDRAC QuickSync management, allowing server management from the front using an NFC-capable device and the Dell OpenManage Mobile App (currently available for Android). This option is available only from the factory and is not supported after purchase.

• Trusted Platform Module (TPM)

  • TPM is utilized to generate and store keys, authenticate passwords, and create/store digital certificates. It supports Intel Xeon TXT functionality and is also used to enable BitLocker™ encryption in Windows Server 2008. TPM 1.2 is supported.

• Power-off Security

  • The BIOS provides the ability to disable the power button function, preventing unauthorized users from powering off the server.

• Intrusion Alert

  • An internal switch detects any chassis intrusion, alerting administrators to unauthorized access or tampering.

• Secure Mode

  • The BIOS includes a secure boot mode that can be configured through system setup. This mode enables the option to lock out the power and NMI switches on the control panel or set up a system password, further securing the system.
